Covid-19: Four more test positive in Kashmir, toll 16 in J&K | KNO

5763 patients under observation, 3136 under home quarintine

Srinagar, Mar 27 (KNO): A day after Kashmir reported its first dead due to novel Coronavirus four more patents all from Srinagar have tested positive having their travel history from abroad and outside Jammu and Kashmir taking totally toll of active cases to 16 in J&K. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), official spokesperson Rohit Kansal in a tweet said four more patients all from Srinagar have tested positive for Coronavirus. Four patients who tested positive on Friday are said to have their travel history from abroad and outside Jammu and Kashmir who took part in religious gathering there. Nodal officer Sher Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) Dr. GH Yatoo said that as many as 21 samples have been collected today alone in this hospital and many have been put in isolation. Director National Health Mission (NHM) Jammu and Kashmir Bhupinder Kumar said that four more cases have tested positive among which two have travel history of Saudi Arabia and other two were part of the religious gatherings held outside J&K. The total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 18 among which a patient has recovered and one died this Thursday taking the total active cases as of now to 16 across Jammu and Kashmir, he said. He said that people should adhere to the lockdown imposed and take necessary precautions even when indoors people should maintain social distance keeping in view the underlying conditions of patients especially elderly so that the transmission of infection is contained. Jammu and Kashmir Government's official spokesperson Rohit Kansal in a tweet said that,"4 more positive cases in Kashmir; all from Srinagar district - 2 have travel history abroad; the other 2 have travel history outside J&K as part of religious congregation". As per the government figures the total number of positive cases across the Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 16. As per the daily information bulletin 5763 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 3136 persons have kept under home quarantine. According to the bulletin on novel coronavirus, 169 persons have kept under hospital quarantine while as 581 persons have completed surveillance period. 1877 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far 432 number of samples have been collected for test of covid-19. Out of 432, 400 samples have been tested negative while as 18 have been tested positive among them one has recovered and a positive patient has died due to COVID-19 besides that reports of 05 samples are yet to come—(KNO)
